The company Alfred Ernst GmbH & Co. KG (AECO) was founded in 1961 as a transport specialist for the sugar and raw foods sector. Today, Alfred Ernst & Co. also operates as a carrier for import, warehouse and distribution logistics. The company is affiliated with August Töpfer & Co. and handles the entire goods transhipment for the group. At the same time, we also ensure fast and efficient logistics for all our customers’ goods movements. Since May 2016, we have held the status of an authorised economic operator (AEO).

Our range of services

Import and warehouse logistics

Import: Containers arriving via seaport are received at the terminals after presentation of shipping documents and then forwarded to the recipients according to the importer’s instructions. All necessary customs procedures are handled in this process. Following the importer’s instructions, the incoming goods are either sent directly to the European interior in containers or unloaded and temporarily stored in Hamburg – including free of customs duty in the open customs warehouse.

  • Railway transports / wagon shipment to Eastern Europe, Benelux and Switzerland in special and standard rail freight wagons including the required documentation

  • Barge transports of bagged goods on the Danube to Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and neighbouring states on the Black Sea, the European waterways network and rivers, with a focus on the Danube, Rhine and Elbe

Distribution logistics

Transport operations in Germany (consolidated shipments)
